What Is a Private Hiroshima City Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Peace Memorial and Shukkeien Garden
The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since the main purpose of their Hiroshima city tour was to learn about the atomic bombing, I carefully guided them through the memorial monuments and also showed them the basement of the Rest House. At the museum, everyone rented audio guides and took their time viewing the exhibits closely. Afterwards, we took three taxis to Shukkeien Garden, where they enjoyed viewing the cherry and plum blossoms and feeding the carp and turtles. Some of the guests were interested in gardening, and one of them had earned a doctoral degree related to gardens, so they said that visiting Shukkeien Garden had been an excellent choice. Before the tour ended, they showed me photos of a magnificent house and told me I was welcome to come and stay if I ever had the chance to visit, which made me feel that they had grown fond of me as a guide and truly enjoyed the tour.

Our guide for this tour was Tomoyo- to say she was wonderful is an understatement! She picked us up right at the train station and helped us navigate all that Hiroshima has to offer- providing education on World War II, while also showing us how beautiful the city is in its own right. We really enjoyed the Peace Museum and Hiroshima Castle. Highly recommend!
