- Grand Base Hiroshima Station Front (9:30) → Travel by taxi → Peace Memorial Museum (10:10) → Inside Peace Park (12:00) → Hypocenter (13:30)
What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Oceania who had arrived in Hiroshima the previous afternoon and planned to go to Miyajima the next day. I had arranged for a taxi to come to the front of the Hotel, but the driver got lost and our departure was delayed, for which I felt very sorry. The museum was crowded, but it was moving to see the guests view each exhibit slowly and earnestly, with tears in their eyes. They said it was wonderful that so many people come to the museum to learn. The weather was fine, and we took our time going around the monuments in the park, where they took many photographs. We had planned to visit Hiroshima Castle if there was time, but we were unable to, so I gave them pamphlets and maps. Finally, I guided them to the hypocenter before we said goodbye.

Hello. My name is Yoko Shimada. Families traveling with children are always welcome. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching English to children from toddlers to junior high school students, and I currently work as an online Japanese teacher, especially for children from around the world.
I am a licensed childcare worker, a certified junior high and high school English teacher in Japan, and a guide interpreter licensed by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government.
Because of my experience working with children, I always try to create tours that are warm, flexible, and comfortable for guests of all ages.
I enjoy creating interactive and memorable experiences through conversation, local stories, and small cultural activities such as origami.
I was born in Ehime, raised in Shimane and Hiroshima, and have lived in Hiroshima for more than 30 years. I love meeting people from different countries and learning about different cultures, so please tell me about your country too!

Great Hiroshima tour with Yoko
Great experience and fantastic private tour in Hiroshima. Our tour guide, Yoko, had prepared the tour well in advance and we have tailored the tour also considering our kids (13 and 15 years old). The tour lasted around 4 hours. My kids and us all really enjoyed the way Yoko explained the history of the city, the museum, the dome and the garden visit. Highly recommended !

Yoko is a very friendly, positive and knowledgeable guide who contributed to us having a fantastic experience, and got a good introduction to the history of the place. Yoko had prepared material for the children, which they were very interested in. We can highly recommend Yoko 😀

Yoko was well knowledgeable and catered to our son who was sea sick. She also was there for my little one who didn’t like some of the photos in Hiroshima library. We enjoyed her tour so very much and plan to book her next time we come back!
