What's a Private Hiroshima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Peace Park and Okonomiyaki
Today's tour was for guests visiting from North America. However, as the plans changed, only part of the group came to Hiroshima while others chose to enjoy shopping in Kyoto. The original plan was to visit Miyajima, the Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the Peace Memorial Museum. Due to time constraints on the guests' side, however, the schedule was significantly revised: we skipped Miyajima and instead visited the Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the Peace Memorial Museum, returning to Hiroshima Station by 2:30 p.m. In addition, since they had made the effort to come all the way to Hiroshima, the guests expressed a wish to try Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. After finishing at the Peace Memorial Museum, we enjoyed okonomiyaki at Hiroshima's Okonomimura, and the tour concluded at Hiroshima Station. A notable stop on the tour was the Atomic Bomb Dome. The Atomic Bomb Dome is the ruins of a building that survived the atomic bombing in 1945 and has been preserved as a symbol of peace. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and stands as a powerful reminder of the destruction caused by nuclear weapons and the enduring hope for lasting peace. Located along the river near the Peace Memorial Park, it draws visitors from around the world who come to reflect on history and the importance of peace.

Our half-day private tour of Tokyo was a fantastic introduction to the city, and our guide, Kenji, made the experience truly memorable.
Kenji’s passion for Tokyo was evident from the moment we met him. He genuinely loves sharing the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems. He navigated the subway system effortlessly, keeping the conversation engaging instead of making the transportation feel like downtime.
One thing we especially appreciated was how thoughtful he was about photos. Not only did he happily take pictures for us, but he also knew the best angles and timing to help us get great shots without waiting in long lines. He even had photos and videos on his phone that helped bring the history of each location to life and gave us a deeper understanding of what we were seeing.
His guidance through the fish market was invaluable. Knowing which stalls offered the best quality and value saved us time and made the experience much more enjoyable.
We spent four hours exploring with Kenji, and for our family—with a 12- and 10-year-old—that was the perfect amount of time in the summer heat. If you’re touring with younger children who aren’t especially interested in history, I’d recommend asking your guide to spend a little more time in the shopping and food districts and a little less time at the temples and shrines. The beauty of a private tour is that it can be tailored to your family’s interests.
Thank you, Kenji, for a wonderful morning in Tokyo. We left with a much greater appreciation for the city and some fantastic memories.

No words can express how fortunate we were to have had Mr. Kasama guide us around Tokyo. He had a wealth of knowledge to share with both my mother and I, and we definitely saw some of not only the best spots but also very important spots for the history of Japan, and important for its people. Not only did he come and get us from the hotel room to get us to the stations we needed to get to (not gonna lie, the subway system is downright confusing if you’re not prepared), but after the tour, he even made sure we got on our correct line to get us back to our hotel. This was a great experience, and if ai were to ever return to Japan and want another tour of Tokyo, I will most definitely want this great guy being our guide again! I really can’t say enough good things about him, and how great of an experience it was!
