- 10:00 Meet at the Hotel
- 11:15 Arrive at Miyajima, tour Itsukushima Shrine
- 11:45 Take the cable car to the Shishiiwa Observatory on Mount Misen
- 13:30 Lunch and stroll around Miyajima
- 15:00 Depart Miyajima
- 16:00 Tour the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
- 18:00 Tour ends at Hiroshima Station
What Is a Private Day Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today I guided one guest visiting from Europe. A typhoon had passed through the Hiroshima area the previous day, so I was a little worried about whether the guest would arrive safely in Hiroshima, but we were able to meet up without any trouble. Thanks to the clear weather that followed the typhoon, the skies were beautifully clear. We first headed to Miyajima, where after visiting Itsukushima Shrine, we took the cable car up Mount Misen. Today we could see all the way to the mountains of distant Shikoku, and the guest was very pleased. The guest requested to eat something unique to Hiroshima for lunch, so I introduced okonomiyaki. It was very well received and praised as delicious. After lunch we moved to Hiroshima, where we visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and the Atomic Bomb Museum, and the tour ended at Hiroshima Station.

Our half-day private tour of Tokyo was a fantastic introduction to the city, and our guide, Kenji, made the experience truly memorable.
Kenji’s passion for Tokyo was evident from the moment we met him. He genuinely loves sharing the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems. He navigated the subway system effortlessly, keeping the conversation engaging instead of making the transportation feel like downtime.
One thing we especially appreciated was how thoughtful he was about photos. Not only did he happily take pictures for us, but he also knew the best angles and timing to help us get great shots without waiting in long lines. He even had photos and videos on his phone that helped bring the history of each location to life and gave us a deeper understanding of what we were seeing.
His guidance through the fish market was invaluable. Knowing which stalls offered the best quality and value saved us time and made the experience much more enjoyable.
We spent four hours exploring with Kenji, and for our family—with a 12- and 10-year-old—that was the perfect amount of time in the summer heat. If you’re touring with younger children who aren’t especially interested in history, I’d recommend asking your guide to spend a little more time in the shopping and food districts and a little less time at the temples and shrines. The beauty of a private tour is that it can be tailored to your family’s interests.
Thank you, Kenji, for a wonderful morning in Tokyo. We left with a much greater appreciation for the city and some fantastic memories.

No words can express how fortunate we were to have had Mr. Kasama guide us around Tokyo. He had a wealth of knowledge to share with both my mother and I, and we definitely saw some of not only the best spots but also very important spots for the history of Japan, and important for its people. Not only did he come and get us from the hotel room to get us to the stations we needed to get to (not gonna lie, the subway system is downright confusing if you’re not prepared), but after the tour, he even made sure we got on our correct line to get us back to our hotel. This was a great experience, and if ai were to ever return to Japan and want another tour of Tokyo, I will most definitely want this great guy being our guide again! I really can’t say enough good things about him, and how great of an experience it was!
