- 7:30 We had some trouble meeting up but gathered at the hotel → Moved on foot → 8:20 Arrived at the Peace Memorial Museum, toured the exhibits → 9:30 Viewed the Memorial Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, the Children's Peace Monument, and the Atomic Bomb Dome → Gelato break at Caffe Ponte → Departed at 10:55 on the World Heritage Sea Route to Miyajima → Arrived at 11:40, explanation of Itsukushima Shrine, took photos at the Grand Torii Gate → Ate grilled oysters and fried oysters while strolling along Omotesando → Departed at 13:10 on the World Heritage Sea Route back to the Peace Memorial Park → Arrived at 13:55, moved on foot → 14:05 Dispersed at the hotel
Title: What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. Before coming to Hiroshima, they had experienced the Nakasendo Trail and had a deep understanding of Shugendo mountain asceticism. Because of this, on Miyajima Island I focused my guiding on the very concept of the shrine itself — why a shrine was built in the sea and why its presence is significant. At the Peace Memorial Museum, at the guests' request, I centered the talk on the human impact of radiation exposure, including the life of Sadako Sasaki and microcephaly caused by the atomic bomb. Differing from the prior study they had done before arriving in Hiroshima, the guests reflected on the values shared by someone who has lived in Hiroshima for over twenty years, saying, "Peace means the world being wrapped in harmony." It seemed they were able to take away something they could do for the future in light of a tragic past, and that made me happy as well.

Hayato was a great tour guide. My family and I loved our time in Hiroshima and Miyajima with him. He took us to a local cuisine for lunch after the peace memorial and before heading to Miyajima. He has a lot of knowledge of the area and was also very communicative. My children also loved him. We ended up spending more time than planned and he was so gracious to stay with us extra time and make sure we had the best time while we were here. I would highly recommend booking with Hayato. We have been in Japan for 2 weeks and this was our best day we had!
