- 9:50 Meet the guests at Hiroshima Station
- 10:00-10:26 Travel from Hiroshima Station to Miyajimaguchi Station by JR
- 10:40-10:50 Travel to Miyajima by ferry
- 10:50-13:45 Miyajima sightseeing (Itsukushima Shrine, Omotesando Shopping Street, 13:00-13:30 Momiji Manju making experience)
- 13:40-13:50 Travel by ferry to Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station
- 13:48-14:39 Travel by streetcar from Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station to Genbaku Dome-mae Station
- 14:40-16:40 Peace Memorial Park (Atomic Bomb Dome, Aioi Bridge, Hypocenter, Children's Peace Monument, Rest House, Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims)
- 16:40 Part with the guests inside the Peace Memorial Museum
What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
That day there was heavy rain across the country, and the guests were worried about whether they would be able to reach Hiroshima safely. However, Hiroshima was so clear and sunny that it was hard to imagine any rain at all, and the guests were very happy about it. To make sure the tour would be enjoyable, I included activities in Miyajima such as playing by the sea and a hands-on momiji manju (maple-leaf cake) making experience. Seeing one of the guests happily eating the momiji manju they had made themselves while on the ferry made me feel very happy as well.
At the request of one of the guests, who wanted to spend more time at the Peace Memorial Park, we skipped Hiroshima Castle and headed to the Atomic Bomb Dome by streetcar. The exchange between the guests — one becoming tired and losing concentration, and another wanting them to learn about peace — was very heartwarming, and I did my best to give explanations that would be easy to understand. This is something another guide taught me: by folding origami cranes together in advance, writing a message about peace on them, and offering them at the Children's Peace Monument, the guests were able to truly feel a sense of peace.
Being able to guide such a wonderful group around Hiroshima made this tour a very happy experience for me once again. They said that Hiroshima has so many enjoyable things that they would definitely come back again soon, and I was truly glad to have been able to share the charms of Hiroshima with them.
This time the weather was clear, but I felt that I should also prepare a plan for rainy days in advance. I will keep this in mind from next time.

Riona was a wonderful guide, informative and funny . It was like spending a day with a really good but much more knowledgeable friend :-). Riona also gave us insights into broader Japanese life, customs and language as well as being very knowledgeable about the historical sites we visited. We were travelling with our one year old daughter and Riona couldn’t have been more patient, understanding and helpful . Riona was an excellent guide for a day in Hiroshima and Miyajima. She was very thoughtful in her plans and very knowledgeable about the places we visited. She considered my limitations as I had hurt my foot before the trip and needed some breaks. She even took photos so I could enjoy the sites and also have something to show my friends and family. It was an awesome experience and I would recommend her and this trip to anyone.

The tour was a great way to get to see Hiroshima in a day and Riona went above and beyond as a guide! I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering a tour of Hiroshima. This was small and intimate and Riona took us to those things we told her we were interested in seeing. On top of that she was just the warmest person and I wish we had a Riona in every city we visit.
