What Is a Private Guided Tour in Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests came to Hiroshima on a trip. Due to a mix-up about their accommodation, the meeting point and time were changed two days beforehand, but we were able to meet without any trouble. The guests were very talkative, and at the restaurant we chatted so much that we were kindly asked to free up the table for other customers waiting outside. We completed the itinerary largely as planned. At the end, I assisted at the counter with trying to change a Shinkansen ticket, but it had been purchased through an app that did not allow changes, so it could not be modified. This is a case that comes up from time to time recently. The guests had a very wide range of topics and interests, ranging from the cost of owning a car when living in Japan, to conversations about livestock, and even how families and hospitals handle life-prolonging treatment for patients.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!
