What's a Private Day Tour of Himeji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guest was a visitor from North America. The guest had visited Japan several times before and hopes to live in Japan in the future. After meeting at Himeji Station, we visited Engyoji Temple on Mount Shosha, Kokoen Garden, and Himeji Castle, stopping along the way at the Castle View point (for an overview of Himeji Castle) and the Shinki Bus Center (to purchase discounted round-trip tickets for the bus and ropeway).
It was an extremely hot day, and frequent hydration was essential. However, the guest was very positive, and even in the heat we were able to enjoy the tour. On the return trip from Himeji Station toward Osaka, we sat in adjacent seats for part of the way, and overall it was a smooth tour with no particular problems.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
