What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. We had originally planned to meet at Himeji Station, but the guests arrived earlier than scheduled and contacted me to say they were having a meal at a restaurant near Himeji Castle, so we met in front of the restaurant.
We visited Himeji Castle, Kokoen Garden, a souvenir shop, and the rooftop of Eagle Himeji, then returned to Himeji Station where we parted ways. Although we started the tour considerably later than usual, we did not encounter any large crowds, and it was an extremely smooth tour. The guests were able to view the special exhibition inside Himeji Castle at a relaxed pace, and they were very pleased.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
