What Is a Private Himeji Castle Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were a group from North America visiting Japan for the first time. We met in front of the central ticket gate at Himeji Station and toured Castle View, Himeji Castle, and Koko-en Garden. Originally we had also planned to visit the rooftop of Egret Himeji, but since it was a very windy and cold day, we cancelled that part at the guests' request.
The guests all got along wonderfully and took many photos together at Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden. After visiting Koko-en Garden, the guests said they wanted to explore the shopping arcade on their own, so I took them to the Nikaimachi Shopping Arcade and ended the tour there. The guests were very pleased.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
