Title: What's a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were visitors from North America on their first trip to Japan. We met at the central ticket gate of Himeji Station, then visited the Castle View spot, Himeji Castle (including the West Bailey and the Hyakken Roka corridor, and the Main Keep), took a break at the Otemon Chaya rest house, and afterward toured Kokoen Garden and the rooftop of Egret Himeji, ending the tour at the east ticket gate of Himeji Station.
At Himeji Castle, we also toured the West Bailey and the Hyakken Roka corridor, which are usually skipped, but the guests were strong walkers and moved through the itinerary smoothly. Although it was a somewhat cold day, the weather was fine, and the guests enjoyed today's tour.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
