What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were visitors from North America on their first trip to Japan. Since I knew their arrival time at Himeji Station in advance, we met 30 minutes earlier than planned and started the tour.
At Himeji Castle, we visited almost all of the facilities, including the West Bailey, the Hyakken Corridor, and the Main Keep. Because we started the tour early, we were able to see everything smoothly. After touring Himeji Castle, we took a short break at a tea shop near Koko-en Garden and enjoyed Himeji's specialty almond toast. The guests were delighted.
After visiting Koko-en Garden, we returned to Himeji Station via the rooftop of Egret Himeji and ended the tour. The guests were very pleased.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
