What Is a Private Himeji Castle Tour in Cherry Blossom Season Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America who were coming to Japan for the third time; on previous trips they had come for work, but this time they were delighted to be here for a relaxed sightseeing visit. Since everywhere was crowded during this season and they did not want to wait in line, I quickly arranged to buy the castle admission tickets in advance and meet them at the Otemon Gate.
As going up and down stairs was difficult for the guests, we took our time and enjoyed taking photos of the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Inside the castle keep, some of the guests only toured the basement level, while others went up to the first floor. Both at Himeji Castle and at Kokoen Garden, the flowers were in full bloom, and the guests said "beautiful" many times. Afterward, at the guests' request, we extended the time a little to have lunch, and I took them to a photo spot at the inner moat before we parted ways.

Excellent tour avec une guide compétente et dynamique. Le château et le parc sont
magnifiques. Seule précaution : il y beaucoup de marches avec des escaliers raides , il faut
être dans une forme raisonnable.

ひとつ注意点を挙げるとすれば、急な階段が多く、かなりの段数を上り下りするため、ある程度の体力が必要です。

Rie is a terrific guide! She worked diligently with us as we planned our day in Himeji, and ensured we could fully enjoy ourselves as we spent the day with her. She brings a very warm, friendly and informative spirit to her work, and she was sensitive to our limitations on climbing the steep castle stairs, although she is quite capable herself in scaling various sites. Rie also has a nice sense of humor, which is so helpful when one spends a full day with a guide. As a bonus, Rie showed us her many favorite photo spots. We strongly recommend Rie, as she is one of the best guides we have worked with in our global travels. Thank you for a memorable day!
