- ②11:00-11:30 Bus to Moto-Hakone Port
- ③11:30-12:40 Hakone Shrine
- ④12:45-13:15 Lake Ashi pirate ship cruise
- ⑤13:15-13:35 Ropeway to Owakudani
- ⑥13:35-14:10 Owakudani
- ⑦14:10-14:30 Ropeway to Sounzan
- ⑧14:30-15:00 Cable car to Gora
- ⑨15:00-16:00 Gora Park
- ⑩16:10-17:00 Disband at Hakone-Yumoto Station
What Is a Private Day Tour of Hakone Like from Odawara? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. Since they were staying at a hotel in Odawara, we arranged to meet at Hakone-Yumoto Station. Based on their prior requests, we toured Hakone Shrine, Lake Ashi, the ropeway, and Owakudani using the Hakone Free Pass. As it was a Saturday and I anticipated crowds, we first took the bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station and traveled clockwise. Since it was cloudy all day, it was not particularly crowded. Unfortunately, we could not see Mount Fuji or Owakudani at all, but the guests seemed to enjoy the serene atmosphere of Hakone Shrine. They did not have lunch, and once we returned to Hakone-Yumoto Station, they mentioned they would have an early dinner before heading back, so we parted ways there.

Our guide, Sam, was very knowledgeable about the are and guided us to several temples using public transportation. We stopped for a traditional Japanese lunch and saw some of the specialty wood carvings from the area. Our guide enjoyed the beauty of nature and his enthusiasm helped us to pay attention to the natural beauty as well.
