Travel between the sites was by public transport: Gora to Sounzan by train (430JPY); Sounzan to Togendai (1,500JPY); Togendai to Motohakone Port (1,200JPY); Motohakone Port to Ninotaira-iriguchi by bus (650JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 3,780JPY per person.
What's a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Lake Ashi, Owakudani, and the Open-Air Museum
The guests were visitors from North America.
The weather was excellent, and Mount Fuji could be seen clearly from both Owakudani and the pirate ship, which the guests were very happy about.
At Togendai there was a long line waiting to board the pirate ship, but the guests requested the special room, so we were able to board with priority. By showing my guide license and a written document from the travel company, I was also able to board together with them at no additional charge.
For lunch at "Kinuhiki no Sato" we had the seasonal special of "anago tempura and kinuhiki udon," which the guests enjoyed very much.
The itinerary proceeded almost exactly as planned, and after entering the Hakone Open-Air Museum, I guided them to the Picasso Pavilion, where the tour concluded.

Our guide, Harry, did an excellent job of showing us around Tokyo. He helped us navigate the train and subway systems. Had an excellent Japanese lunch and stopped at good local shopping venues. Harry also arranged which order we should do things in since I didn’t know how far apart the attractions we wanted to see were from each other. No way we could have navigated on our own, very pleased, highly recommend.
