- 10:00 Meet at hotel
- 10:30-11:30 Travel to Owakudani
- 11:30-12:30. From Owakudani to Sounzan, Gora
- 12:30-13:30. After staying at Hakone Open-Air Museum, to Moto-Hakone
- 13:30-14:30. Lunch
- 14:30-15:15 Hakone Shrine
- 15:15-16:00 . Lake Ashi cruise, then disband
Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. Since they were leaving Hakone the following day, I paid close attention to time management so that we could meet as many of their wishes as possible. What impressed me most was their great curiosity — at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, they took their time to look carefully at the works. One of the guests also tried "katsudon," and the simple comment "It was delicious!" was a relief to me as well. As it was a weekend just after the end of the rainy season, I had expected crowds, but it was still fairly quiet. Having twice before been unable to board the pirate ship because it was full, which had become something of a personal worry, I was very happy to accomplish the mission this time.

Our guide, Kappa-san, modified the typical Hakone tour to accommodate our interests, and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Since the day was very hot (95°F / 35°C) we favored activities that were more shaded or cool, including a walk on a cedar-lined section of the old Tokaido path.

Kappa, our guide met us at the train station and took us all over Kamakura. We saw shrines, the big Buddha, gardens, and the Oceanside! Kappa shared a lot of history about Kamakura, and it was nice to have this background when we were exploring these incredible sites! Highly recommend!

My wife and I were treated to a wonderful walking tour of Tokyo with Kappa. Kappa was very accommodating in designing a tour specifically tailored to our interests. Kappa is a wealth of knowledge regarding the city history, temples and shrine, and Japanese art history. She is a lovely person too. I highly recommend Kappa if you want to learn about Tokyo
