- ・10:00 Tour begins at Madoka no Mori (Hotel)

- ・Take the ropeway to Owakudani
- ・11:10 Move to Togendai
- ・12:00 Depart Togendai, board the pirate ship
- ・12:40 Arrive at Motohakone Port
- ・12:55 Visit Hakone Shrine
- ・14:00 Depart Motohakone Port, board the pirate ship
- ・14:25 Arrive at Togendai
- ・Move to the hotel by taxi
- ・15:15 Arrive at the hotel
- ・15:30 After picking up luggage, since the guests want to leave early for Odawara Station, the tour ends.
What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Ropeway, Pirate Ship, and Hakone Shrine
On the day of the tour, the guests were checking out, so they came down to the hotel front desk about ten minutes before the meeting time, allowing us to meet smoothly. In addition, thanks to the kindness of the hotel, we were given a ride to Sounzan Station, making for a very good start.
The ropeway from Sounzan was relatively uncrowded, and we moved smoothly to Owakudani. The weather was cloudy and Mount Fuji was not visible, but there was no heavy rain, and there were no major problems with visibility or operation. The guests were able to enjoy the scenery from the ropeway.
We boarded the pirate ship from Togendai as scheduled, and after arriving at Motohakone Port, we visited Hakone Shrine. On the return trip, being able to use the special cabin (first class) allowed us to avoid the long line for the general seating area, making for a very smooth journey. I strongly felt that, unless the guests specifically say they do not need the premium seating, actively making use of first class during tours is very effective.
The day fell within a period when crowding is a concern in the Hakone area, and the weather conditions were also unstable, so I recognized this as a high-difficulty tour. However, thanks to two prior site visits and careful preparation in advance, the tour overall ran very smoothly.
The return ropeway (departing from Togendai) had a long line as expected, so at the guests' request, an Uber taxi was arranged. After picking up their luggage at the hotel, they proceeded directly to Odawara Station, and the tour ended earlier than scheduled.
The guests were very friendly and cooperative, contributing greatly to the smooth progress of the tour throughout.
Also, although I initially purchased the ropeway and pirate ship tickets together with the guests, I was informed that a ticket for the guide was not required when using the special cabin, and I later received a refund, so in the end no transportation cost was incurred during the tour.

Takeshi was an essential partner for planning our first trip to Tokyo. He made a customized itinerary for me based on my preferences – one historic sight, one place with lots of plants, and one place that would be fun for our 10 year old. He planned the perfect day for us which was fun for the whole family! He showed us how to navigate the subway system, and he also had lunch with us which was a real treat! I appreciate him sending us recommendations before our trip even started – even guiding us on how to buy tickets for the limousine bus in Narita to get to our hotel. My only regret was not booking more time – 6 hours went by so fast! You won’t regret booking Takeshi to be your guide in Tokyo 🙂

I had a 12-hour layover in Tokyo and decided to book this tour with Takeshi. I’m so glad I did. He was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the history of Tokyo. Since I was traveling solo, I really appreciated having Takeshi’s support.
From the beginning, Takeshi was very helpful. He helped me find a place to store my luggage at the airport and made sure to ask which terminal my flight was leaving from so we could store it there, which made everything much easier at the end of my trip.
Takeshi took me all around Asakusa, where I got to see Senso-ji Temple, walk around, and buy souvenirs. He suggested a great authentic place for us to eat soba noodles and shrimp tempura, which was one of the highlights of the tour and very tasty.
We also got to walk across Shibuya Crossing at night, which was exciting. Takeshi has a very energetic walking pace, which helped us make the most of my limited time and see many places around Tokyo. He was very knowledgeable about the transit system and guided me safely to and from every location. He also brought me back to the airport at the exact place where I could pick up my luggage.
Throughout the entire experience, I felt very safe, secure, and happy. Takeshi made my long layover a wonderful experience, and I truly appreciated his help, knowledge, and guidance.

Takeshi san picked us up on the Hotel and we had a very nice tour of Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace area, Tokyo National Museum and Senso-ji Temple.
Really good insight into Japanese Customs, the sites and culture. A very good guide!
