What Is a Cruise Port Day Trip in Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The cruise ship docked at the port pier, which is some distance from Hakodate Station, so we took a taxi to the front of Hakodate Station. We bought a one-day pass, took the streetcar to Suehiro-cho, and began a hike up Mount Hakodate. The guests were energetic and full of energy. On Mount Hakodate, various spring flowers had begun to bloom, delighting our eyes. The weather was fine, so the view from the summit was superb. For the descent we took the ropeway, then boarded the streetcar and went to Goryokaku Park to see the cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms at Goryokaku were at their absolute peak right then. They were deeply moved to have hit the roughly one-week peak viewing period of the cherry blossoms so perfectly. They had been planning this trip for about two years and were amazed at how fortunate the timing had turned out. After fully enjoying the cherry blossoms, we ate sashimi and seafood rice bowls at the Hakodate Morning Market. Afterward, I guided them to the taxi stand and the tour concluded.
