About 20 years ago, I opened an internet retailer of secondhand kimonos for overseas customers with my partner. In November 2015, we opened an actual store in Chuo-ku, Osaka City, where we explain, dress, and sell kimonos in English to customers from abroad. I was in charge of creating and managing the website in English and exchanging emails with customers.
Now that my children are graduating universities and I can leave the store to my partner and employees, I decided that I would like to work outside the office and interact with society more, so I have been working as an interpreter at events such as Fomura 1 Suzuka GP since 2022 and as an interpreter guide since the fall of 2023.
I am serving customers who come to Japan with the motto of “once in a lifetime encounter”. In English, I try to use concise expressions so that non-native speakers can understand me, partly due to my own vocabulary. My pronunciation is American English, and I have been praised by clients for being natural and easy to understand.
