wonderful experience with Mr Shu exploring Kyoto. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Answered all of our questions. And took us to see the aqueducts that I was not expecting, great surprise!! Really encourage to use him as a guide.

A wonderful introduction to Kyoto with Shu!
We arrived in Kyoto the evening before and took an evening tour of Gion, close to where we were staying. Unfortunately, that tour left much to be desired so we were a little cautious going into our morning tour with Shu. Fortunately, we couldn't have been more incorrect. Shu was a fantastic tour guide! He met us at our hotel on time, introduced himself (obvious, I know, but something our previous tour guide neglected), showed us a map of the area and a plan for the day and took our interests into consideration when planning the itinerary. We traveled a lot of ground! He introduced us to the public transportation system, demystified some curiosities such as why sometimes people walk on the left and then switch to the right with no apparent reason, and showed us some of Kyoto's highlights. After hearing about our previous tour experience, he even took the time to take us back to Gion to tell us about the history and culture of Geishas and Maikos that we failed to get the previous day, even though it was not part of the original itinerary. When my son was hungry, Shu was patient while we stopped to sit down and get some Tokayaki. To top it off, he showed me some places to purchase Japanese knives because I had indicated I was interested in purchasing some as a souvenir of our trip. I wish our introduction to Kyoto came with Shu. I highly recommend Shu as an A+ tour guide!!!

Viator review: Kyoto 6hr Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide
Shu prepared our trip after consulting with us before we met to ensure we got the most out of our trip. In 6hrs we managed to see the shrines & temples we wanted to visit plus Nijo-jo Castle. Shu took us to an excellent restaurant for Okonomiyaki. Delicious & very reasonably priced. Thank you Shu for an excellent trip.
