Before the tour, I contacted Sachi-san with a list of interests we have and also the sites that we wanted to visit. Our tour is more oriented towards the etiquette in Temples and Shrines and Sachi-san is an expert in this subject.
She showed us how to purify ourselves at Sensoji Temple and taught us how to pray there. She also talked about the difference in how to pray at a Buddhist Temple and Shinto Shrine. Sachi-san is a very knowledgeable tour guide who made our tour fun and engaging for us.
After having lunch at Gonpachi, we made our way to the Meiji Jingu Shrine and Sachi-san talked about its history and how the shrine is dedicated to the deified Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Despite the rainy weather that afternoon, we still enjoyed walking the grounds and looking at the beautiful surroundings.
We were very lucky to see the preparations being done for the Chrysanthemum Exhibition and were able to see the variety of chrysanthemums and miniature dioramas that participants have prepared.
Sachi also was very helpful when my sister and I wanted to get an Omikuji at Meiji Jingu Shrine (they had a waka poem format for their Omikuji), Omamori amulets, and Goshuin stamp.
It was my sister's first time visiting Japan and this is my second time after a long time visiting and having Sachi-san as our tour guide made the 6-hour tour such a fun learning experience.
We enjoyed our walking tour that started from the Nezu/Yanaka neighborhood, then made our way to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, had lunch at Gonpachi, then made our way to Meiji Jingu Shrine.
Sachi-san was very kind, welcoming, and had plenty of ideas on what other things we can go visit on our own after our tour. She also made sure that we safely made it back to our hotel after our tour.
