I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Hiroshima.
I was born and raised in Kure City, which is located next to Hiroshima City. I have been living in Hiroshima City since graduating from university. I worked as an elementary school teacher for about 40 years. As a teacher, I learned a lot and studied many different topics, which helped me to increase my knowledge in different fields and give interesting and impressive lessons to my students. After retiring from the elementary school, I obtained a license to be an English tour guide and started my second career as a tour guide.
I have been a member of the Hiroshima Toastmasters Club for six years and enjoy participating in their activities twice a month. This club focuses on the development of English communication skills, which is helpful for guiding tourists.
I love traveling to new places. I have visited the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, Norway, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey for sightseeing or studying English. The joy of traveling overseas for me is that it allows me to learn about different cultures, languages, and the unique lifestyles and food cultures of the people. Now it’s my turn to extend the same hospitality I’ve received to you.
Recently, there have been a large number of tourists coming to Hiroshima. Hiroshima is a wonderful city that has many fascinating aspects. I specialize in Hiroshima city downtown area, which has Peace Memorial Park (including the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum), Shukkeien Garden, Hiroshima Castle, and other attractions. Hiroshima is also home to Miyajima Island(including Itsukushima Shrine).
When I was a teacher, I visited the Peace Memorial Park frequently with my students, as a part of the peace education. Every time I have visited, I feel the preciousness of peace. I believe that this place not only conveys the tragedy of the atomic bombing but is also a place where everyone can think about the importance of peace.
If you have one day to stay in Hiroshima, Itsukushima Shrine is also a must-see tourist destination. The shrine looks as if it is floating on the sea at the high tide, and you can walk to the Big Torii Gate at the low tide. Which would you like better, the high or low tide? In addition, you can enjoy Hiroshima’s local food, Okonomiyaki. Hiroshima has the greatest number of Okonomiyaki restaurants. If you want to try it , I will take you to its restaurant.
