Michy

I am Michiyo Bamba, a nationally licensed English-speaking tour guide in Japan.
In my work as a guide, I believe that providing accurate and easy-to understand explanation is essential. At the same time, I always give careful consideration to how my guests can truly enjoy their journey in Japan and leave feeling satisfied and comfortable.

Even during periods when I engaged in other professional work, and was not actively guiding, I continued to study Japanese history, culture, religion and customs, while preparing and refining guiding materials. This ongoing learning process has helped me deepen and refine my knowledge.
I take my responsibilities as a guide seriously and place great importance on reliability and clarity. I believe that sincere preparation and continuous learning are key to offering thoughtful and well-structured tours.

At present, I mainly provide tours in the Kyoto and Nara areas. These two cities served as Japan’s imperial capital until capital was moved to Tokyo in the mid-19th century. In particular, Kyoto has a history of about 1200 years as the imperial capital and remains deeply connected to Japan’s culture and traditions.
I am also eager to expand the areas I can guide as I continue to develop my experience and knowledge.

Rather than focusing only on famous temples and landmarks, I would like to explain the historical background, beliefs and cultural values and the way of thinking that have shaped Japanese society over centuries.

I consider myself to be well informed about Japanese culture and history. More importantly I have a deep affection for Japan and especially for Kyoto, the city where I currently live.
I truly enjoy sharing this passion with visitors from overseas and helping them gain a deeper and more personal understanding of the country.

I always strive to create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, paying close attention to each guest’s needs and interests.

Japan is a country filled with many different kinds of appeal.
It offers beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons, a rich and diverse food culture, and people are generally kind, considerable and respectful. The cities are clean and safe, allowing visitors to feel comfortable and at ease during their stay.
Japan is a country with a long history, symbolized by the world’s oldest imperial family.
This long history and tradition can still be felt in everyday life.

At the same time, Japan is not only for its traditional culture, but also for its modern creative industries, such as amime and manga as well as its advanced technology.
I believe that this coexistence of tradition and innovation is one of the county’s unique characteristics.
I would be honored to contribute, even in a small way, to my guest’s growing appreciation and affection for Japan. I hope they leave Japan with warm memories and a desire to return in the future.
