Tour of Kyoto with Masatake
Tripadvisor review: Kyoto 8hr Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide
We booked an 8-hour tour with Masatake in Kyoto to gain the ability to see different parts of the city, in addition to what we had researched. We received local recommendations on what to see and where to go. Having been in contact with him before our visit, we had a series of email exchanges where we proposed a few locations we wanted to see. He advised on the best order to follow and took the time to guide us to those places, as well as recommending a few stops along the way to ensure we discovered a few hidden gems that we hadn't researched.
The tour consisted of visiting a number of known and less known shrines as well as a quieter way to see one of the bamboo forest, which can be very busy with tourists, this made the tour and experience feel a lot more personal and relaxed with us being able to see what we wanted to, but not feel overwhelmed by crowds and some of the more popular spots .
He also recommended an excellent location for us to have lunch with him on that day. It was very different from what we were expecting, but it was delicious, and he even made recommendations for other things to do outside of our allotted time with him, as we were still in town for a number of additional days.
His friendly demeanour, as well as his excellent ability to speak English, was incredibly welcoming for us and helped us feel at ease and welcome as part of this once-in-a-lifetime tour and experience. We would thoroughly recommend the tour with him.
