Hello! I’m Masa (Masayuki Kato), a local guide who loves sharing not only Japan’s famous sights, but also the everyday experiences that make Japan so special. Whether you want to visit famous landmarks, explore hidden local gems, experience everyday Japanese life, or enjoy nature on foot, I’ll create a private tour tailored to your interests and travel style.
My tours are fully customizable. We can decide together on the destinations, schedule, meeting place, hotel pick-up (if needed), and the best way to get around. If you’re still planning your trip, I’d also be happy to suggest an itinerary. If you’re interested in Japanese culture, I’d also be happy to help you experience Zen meditation, tea ceremonies, traditional crafts, indigo dyeing, Japanese cuisine, and sweets where possible. For me, a great tour is more than sightseeing—it’s also about enjoying good conversation and sharing stories about Japan. Feel free to ask me anything about Japanese culture, history, food, daily life, restaurants, or local recommendations.
I based in Kanagawa Prefecture and mainly guide tours in Kamakura, Enoshima, Yokohama, and Kawasaki, and I also offer tours in Tokyo and nearby areas. As a hiking enthusiast, I’m also happy to guide scenic walks and nature hikes.
Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a Japanese IT company and lived in Arizona and California for more than three years. I’ve also traveled to 12 countries for work and leisure, and I truly enjoy meeting people from different cultures. Those experiences inspired me to become a guide, and now I’m excited to share my love of Japan with visitors from around the world.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you create unforgettable memories in Japan!
