- 9:00 Depart from Hakata Port Cruise Terminal, travel by bus
- 9:39 Take JR from Hakata Station to Kido Nanzoin-mae
- 10:05-11:16 Sightseeing at Kido Nanzoin
- 11:16 Travel by JR to Hakata Station
- 11:40-13:00 Depachika (basement food floor) of Hankyu Department Store, lunch on the rooftop of Hakata Station
- 13:00 Travel by subway to Gion
- 13:15-13:45 Sightseeing at Tocho-ji Temple, shopping at Family Mart along the way
- 13:45-1435 Sightseeing at Kushida Shrine, then travel by bus to Hakata Port
- 15:00 Arrive at Hakata Port Cruise Terminal
What Is a Private Food and Sightseeing Day Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were deeply impressed by the natural beauty of Nanzoin Temple and the sheer size of the reclining Buddha statue. They were also very interested in Japanese snacks and the very expensive fruit they had learned about through social media. Rather than buying the expensive fruit, they seemed more interested in photographing it. At the basement food floor of a department store, they got excited at the prepared food and dessert sections. They bought a bento box and dessert and had lunch on the rooftop of the station building. They also bought many Glico snacks at a convenience store. They were delighted that their goals had been achieved.

Our guide, Sasuke, was very prepared and even reached out to us months before our trip. She took us on a slow paced visit to the Nanzoin temple, taking time to appreciate the sacred places and even the various local vegetation. This was followed by a tour of the city, opening our eyes to the modern urban life of the city folks, much in contrast but still in harmony with the serenity and simplicity of the many ancient shrines among the modern malls and buildings. Thanks to Sasuke for introducing us to Fukuoka!

Two of us from an NCL cruise had a day sightseeing in Fukuoka with Sasuke. The highlight for us was the lying down Buddha which is quite away from the port and meant we got to ride a train and saw some of the lovely countryside. We also got to try delicious Ramen which turned out to be the best Ramen we experienced during our time in Japan. We enjoyed Sasuke’s company and her extensive knowledge. She met us promptly off the ship and returned us on time.
