What Is a Private Beppu Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Hells and Onsen
I met the guests at the Hotel at 8:30. We walked to Beppu Station and took a bus to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell). They were impressed by the scenery blending with the mountains. We walked to Oniyama Jigoku and watched the crocodile feeding. They were surprised by scenery they don't usually see. We walked to the Kannawa bus stop and went to Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell). After viewing Chinoike Jigoku, we went to Tatsumaki Jigoku and saw the geyser. We took a bus to Beppu Station and had lunch at a restaurant. We then took a bus to Global Tower, enjoyed the views, walked to the station, showed them Takegawara Onsen, and returned to the Hotel. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the extraordinary scenery.

It was a full itinerary but our guide, Hiro, graciously accommodated our request to include an extra stop to Mt Inasa. Definitely a sobering reminder of the effects of war but a powerful call for peace on earth. It was indeed a memorable day to appreciate beautiful Nagasaki.

I have to think twice or three times and review what I did during the private tour because it was quite extensive. We were covering Glover Garden, Dejima, Nagasaki Peace Park, Sofukuji Temple, the Castella place that Hiro-san’s wife recommended, Toruko rice, Nagasaki’s milkshake and also the pork bun place that Hiro-san recommended.
Thank you for being patient with me and my sore legs. Hiro-san said he can always tailor the tour to assist me in walking as well. Especially since Nagasaki has stairs and slopes and hills. Most of the time, Hiro-san will try to find the path with elevators to assist me.
The cost is very reasonable for a 6-hr tour. Because it was a private tour, there was only me, Hiro-san and my husband. It was a good number of people, so Hiro-san could focus his knowledge and attention on us.
