Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Sagano and Arashiyama in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests came from North America. On what turned out to be the coldest day of the year so far, I was worried about whether the Sagano walking tour would go smoothly, but the sky was clear and the sunshine was warm, so there were few problems with the tour. We took a taxi to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple and then walked the rest of the way. I tried to walk in the sunshine as much as possible, but there was ice here and there, and it felt cold. At Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple, the pouring of water over the six Jizo statues that I usually do could not be done because it was frozen over. One of the guests had brought three cameras and was constantly taking photographs. Especially at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple, which we visited first, so much time was spent that it seemed as if every single rakan statue would be photographed. There were many times when the other guest and I waited for the photography to finish. The place I had planned for lunch was unusually closed today, but the guests kindly said, "We had a big breakfast, so we are still fine," and after finishing all the destinations, we had lunch in Arashiyama. The photo was taken at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.
