- AM 10:00 Tour starts from the hotel
- Travel by foot: Kazuemachi, Higashi Chaya District
- AM 10:15-11:20 Stroll through Kazuemachi and Higashi Chaya District, Utasu Shrine
- Travel by bus: Kenrokuen
- AM 11:40-PM 12:30 Visit Kenrokuen
- PM 12:30- PM 14:00 Visit Kanazawa Castle Park, Gyokusen-in, Oyama Shrine
- PM 14:00 Tour ends at Oyama Shrine
What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. During the tour, they asked me many questions about Kanazawa and about Japan in general. They kept asking questions even while it was raining, so at one point we stopped at a rest area in the Higashi Chaya District to go over the answers, but I believe they fully enjoyed the city of Kanazawa as well. They also shared a great deal with me about an old town in North America. In the end, I showed them a place for lunch at Oyama Shrine and pointed out the spots worth visiting around the Nagamachi samurai district, bringing the tour to a close.
A notable stop on the tour was the Higashi Chaya District in Kanazawa. This historic area is one of the city's best-preserved geisha districts, lined with traditional wooden teahouses dating back to the Edo period. Its atmospheric streets are known for their latticed facades, and many of the former teahouses now operate as cafes, gold-leaf shops, and small museums. Kanazawa itself is famous for its gold-leaf production and its well-preserved townscapes, making districts like Higashi Chaya a highlight for visitors interested in traditional Japanese culture and architecture.

Yoshi is an exceptional guide where he took us to the best market stalls at the fish market where every food we indulged in (including the sea snails and eel liver) were superb. The walking tour of the tea houses (Geisha district) and knowledge of the history of both the precinct and greater Japan was first class. Yoshi is also a kind and caring person and made conversation very easy, including when we wanted to dig into the country’s cultural values and lifestyle

YOSHI met us at our hotel and was very friendly and helpful. We walked around the city and he took us to view several different spots including samurai living quarters, geisha houses, the beautiful garden built by Maeda san. Yoshi was knowledgeable about the entire city and it’s treasured history. He inspired me to do some reading on Maeda san, a leader who played a huge part in the development of the city. Yoshi was an excellent guide, and even provided a LOT of recommendations and useful information for after our tour. We would definitely recommend YOSHI san! Note: you will need a IC card to board some of the city buses.

We had a fab tour with Yoshi our guide, we visited the tea district then the gardens and castle which were my favourite. Yoshi was very informative , explaining the history and mechanisms of the castle was built and the water system. He was also very helpful with explaining the bus service.
