What's a Full-Day Private Architecture and Sightseeing Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from Europe, and this was their first day in Japan. Since they were interested in modern architecture, we visited the National Diet Building, the Tokyo International Forum, and Tokyo Station as requested, then packed in a full schedule covering Ameyoko, Ueno, Asakusa, and Yanaka. Because we also stopped at a cafe and a restaurant, the stays in the latter half were a bit shorter. For lunch they preferred meat over fish, so I took them to a yakiniku restaurant, where they enjoyed a lunch set. They took photos of the buildings and scenery with both a camera and a smartphone. The temperature was high today and they were dealing with jet lag, so toward the end it seemed a little physically tiring, but they were pleased to have seen many different parts of Tokyo. I saw them off at the station where they would transfer toward their accommodation, and the tour ended. A notable stop on the tour was Asakusa, home to Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century. Visitors approach the main hall through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) and along Nakamise-dori, a bustling shopping street lined with traditional snacks and souvenirs. The area offers a vivid sense of old downtown Tokyo and remains one of the city's most popular cultural destinations.
