What Is a Private Tokyo Tour of the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Akihabara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from Europe. Because the weather was unusually pleasant for October, I changed the original plan of using the subway with transfers and instead guided them on a surface route around the Imperial Palace. We walked a long course from Sakuradamon Gate to Otemon Gate, circled the East Gardens, and returned once again to Otemon Gate.

While traveling by subway toward Asakusa, the guests requested to also visit Akihabara, so I quickly adjusted the plan, wrapped up Asakusa a little early, and headed to Akihabara on the Tsukuba Express. After I showed them the game arcades and the long-standing electronic parts shops, the guests expressed that they would like to enjoy the rest on their own, so after confirming the route back to their Hotel, the tour concluded in front of Akihabara Station.

The guests were very interested in the Japanese language and Japanese history and asked many questions. I was grateful to the guests for walking so much.

A notable stop on the tour was the Imperial Palace East Gardens. The Imperial Palace stands on the former site of Edo Castle, which was once the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate. The East Gardens are open to the public and allow visitors to see remnants of the original castle, including massive stone walls and the foundation of the former castle keep. The spacious grounds offer a peaceful green space in the heart of Tokyo and reflect centuries of Japanese history.

Hello everyone, and welcome to Japan!
I obtained a national tour guide license back in 2001, while I have been busy teaching English full time for many years. Since 2018 I have enjoyed guiding guests from all over the world.

I live in a western suburb of Tokyo, so I can guide you around the wider Tama area as well as central Tokyo. I love introducing visitors to both the famous highlights and the hidden gems where you can take wonderful photos and experience authentic Japanese culture. Along the way, I enjoy sharing stories about Japanese history, traditions, and daily life.

I once worked in Australia as a teacher of Japanese language, which gave me many opportunities to communicate with people from different cultures.
I also enjoy golf — I even traveled alone to the UK for a golf tour.

I look forward to guiding you and helping your time in Japan both enjoyable and memorable.
