Tour Itinerary
- Hiroshima Station (9:30) → Travel by JR/ferry → Miyajima (10:30) → Itsukushima Shrine (11:00) → Okonomiyaki lunch (11:30) → Omotesando Shopping Street (12:30) → JR/
- Travel by ferry and taxi → Peace Memorial Museum (14:30) → Peace Park (15:30) → Call a taxi and disband (16:30)
What's a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were kind visitors from North America. They had come from Kyoto and were planning to return home the next day. The weather was lovely and it was a very pleasant day. In Miyajima, there were many school trip students and tour groups, so it was quite lively, but we were able to enter the shrine smoothly and view it at a relaxed pace. The guests were very happy with the beautiful scenery of Miyajima and took many photos. Since they would be returning home soon, they bought gifts for their grandchild at the Omotesando shopping street. For the trip to the Peace Park, the World Heritage Sea Route was not running due to the tides, so we traveled by JR train, ferry, and taxi. There was almost no waiting time and everything went very smoothly, so we arrived much earlier than usual. At the Peace Memorial Museum, there were many tour buses parked and it was crowded, but I made sure the guests saw the important points. We went around the cenotaph, the Children's Peace Monument, and the Atomic Bomb Dome within the Peace Park, and along the way we folded paper cranes together at the rest house and dedicated them. Both of the guests folded them very skillfully. I called a taxi to Hiroshima Station, and although it was a little early, we parted ways.
A notable stop on the tour was the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima. The Atomic Bomb Dome is one of the few structures that remained standing near the hypocenter of the atomic bombing in 1945 and has been preserved as a symbol of peace. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and stands within the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park as a powerful reminder of the importance of lasting peace. Visitors from around the world come to reflect on its history and message.

Hello. My name is Yoko Shimada. Families traveling with children are always welcome. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching English to children from toddlers to junior high school students, and I currently work as an online Japanese teacher, especially for children from around the world.
I am a licensed childcare worker, a certified junior high and high school English teacher in Japan, and a guide interpreter licensed by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government.
Because of my experience working with children, I always try to create tours that are warm, flexible, and comfortable for guests of all ages.
I enjoy creating interactive and memorable experiences through conversation, local stories, and small cultural activities such as origami.
I was born in Ehime, raised in Shimane and Hiroshima, and have lived in Hiroshima for more than 30 years. I love meeting people from different countries and learning about different cultures, so please tell me about your country too!

Yoko was amazing. She is very kind and knowledgeable. She was sure to be in touch with us after we booked the tour to find out what areas we were interested in, and if there was anything we had high on our list to see.
Although all areas are significant, she makes sure to point out key things that we should be sure to see. We had a lot of laughs and truly enjoyed our day with Yoko. She is also a good photographer.
We highly recommend if you are in Hiroshima you book a tour with Yoko!!

Great Hiroshima tour with Yoko
Great experience and fantastic private tour in Hiroshima. Our tour guide, Yoko, had prepared the tour well in advance and we have tailored the tour also considering our kids (13 and 15 years old). The tour lasted around 4 hours. My kids and us all really enjoyed the way Yoko explained the history of the city, the museum, the dome and the garden visit. Highly recommended !
