Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama
The guests were an older group visiting from Europe. It was their first time in Japan. I took them to Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama, including the Tenryu-ji garden, the bamboo grove, and the Togetsukyo Bridge. The weather was fine, and everything went smoothly up until lunch, but there was some trouble with the guests' card payment when settling the lunch bill. The guests' card had already been charged, yet the restaurant showed the payment as incomplete, and the cause was unclear. The guests had to call their home country by phone to confirm, and we managed to resolve it. Despite the very large crowds, everyone seemed to especially enjoy Kinkaku-ji and the bamboo grove. A notable stop on the tour was Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion. This Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto is famous for its top two floors completely covered in gold leaf, which reflect beautifully on the surrounding pond. Originally built as a retirement villa for a shogun in the late 14th century, it later became a temple and remains one of Kyoto's most iconic and visited landmarks.

He had a great English, was at our meeting point before the planned time, he explained in such a delicate way the story behind the temples, buildings and streets of our tour. He was lovely towards our children and pleased us when we wanted to stop at a shop, eat/ drink smtng or even go to see a statue that was
«not planned ». We had a wonderful time scrolling down ancient Kyoto Tnx to Michi

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.
