Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Ueno and Asakusa in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from Asia. I assisted them with purchasing Suica cards at Shimbashi Station, and we traveled by JR to Ueno Station. At the first stops, Tosho-gu Shrine and the five-story pagoda, they took many photos and seemed strongly impressed by the traditional architecture. We continued on to the Great Buddha of Ueno and Kiyomizu Kannon-do Temple, and then went to Ameyoko, where they enjoyed some fruit and strolled through the shopping street. We took the subway to Asakusa, and as we proceeded from Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise, the five-story pagoda, and the main hall, I explained the history and significance of each. The guests drew omikuji fortunes and tried activities such as target shooting, and seemed to enjoy themselves. We ended the tour at a cafe where we took a break. Unlike the previous days, the temperature was high, so during the tour we walked in the shade as much as possible and drank plenty of water, finishing safely. A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the seventh century, and is one of the most visited religious sites in Japan. Visitors enter through the iconic Kaminarimon Gate with its large red lantern, then pass along the Nakamise shopping street lined with traditional shops leading to the main hall and the five-story pagoda.
