What's a Private Nagasaki Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Peace Park and Glover Garden

The guests were visiting from Europe and seemed to be enjoying the tour. Originally, after visiting the Peace Park-related facilities, I had planned to guide them to the Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture, but since the guests were from Europe, I changed the plan and guided them to Glover Garden instead. As the guests had a deep interest in the damage caused by the atomic bomb, they attentively visited the Peace Park, the Hypocenter Park, and the Atomic Bomb Museum. At Glover Garden, they were very interested to learn how Glover, who came from the same part of Europe, contributed to Japan's modernization. Since there was no time for lunch during the guiding, I finally guided them to Chinatown and we parted ways. They said this tour was very informative and helpful in many ways. A notable stop on the tour was Glover Garden in Nagasaki. Glover Garden is an open-air museum located on a hillside overlooking Nagasaki Harbor, featuring several Western-style residences built during the late 19th century. It is best known for the former residence of Thomas Glover, a Scottish merchant who played a significant role in Japan's industrial modernization, and the site offers scenic views of the city and harbor.
