Title: What Is a Private Zuiganji and Entsuin Temple Tour in Matsushima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from Europe, and it seemed that English was not their strongest language. As they wished to explore Japanese gardens and Buddhist temples, the tour was arranged to include Zuiganji Temple, Entsuin Temple with its beautiful contrast of green moss and trees, and a matcha tasting at the Kanrantei pavilion. At a shop along the coast, they enjoyed the exotic taste of white, springy deep-fried kamaboko fish cake. They also said they were very satisfied, describing the combination of matcha and zunda mochi at Kanrantei as exquisitely complementing each other and delicious. They were left breathless by the scene woven together by the moss of Entsuin Temple, the leaves of the green trees, and the light. A notable stop on the tour was Zuiganji Temple in Matsushima. Zuiganji is one of the most famous Zen Buddhist temples in the Tohoku region, originally founded in the 9th century and later rebuilt in the early 17th century under the patronage of a prominent feudal lord. The temple is renowned for its impressive main hall, elaborate wood carvings, and painted sliding doors, as well as the meditation caves carved into the surrounding cliffs. Set within the scenic bay area, it offers visitors a peaceful atmosphere and a deep sense of Japan's spiritual and cultural heritage.

Huge thanks to Sanichi for tailoring this excellent tour exactly to our interests. Genso no Mori was not in the original itinerary, but he rearranged the tour so that we could visit this incredibly special and peaceful forest while still seeing Haguro-San as well as one of the Living Buddha temples. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the history and unique spiritual practices in this area. I hope that more people explore and learn about this beautiful region of Japan.

15,000 Steps thru Sendai History
Sanichi is a very help and knowledgeable guide around Sendai. He devised an itinerary based on our preference for gardens and nature so we visited themes and shrines in Japanese gardens and huge forests via public transport as part of the experience. We had lunch together in a Japanese restaurant where it was very handy having someone who read Japanese. A 15,000 step tour, with a lot of Sendai history thrown in, which was well worth it.

Tripadvisor review: Yamagata / Yamadera 6hr Private Trip with Licensed Guide

Exploring Yamagata with Sanichi
Tripadvisor review: Yamagata / Yamadera 6hr Private Trip with Licensed Guide
Our guided tour with Sanichi was an absolute delight. His deep knowledge of the region’s history, culture, and etiquette brought our visits to life. From the serene Risshaku-ji Temple to the commanding view from Kajo Central building, each stop was enriched by his insightful commentary.
We were particularly impressed by Sanichi’s dedication to ensuring we had the best possible experience. He patiently translated for us, allowing us to fully engage with the exhibits and local culture. We loved every part of the trip, especially the unique part where we got to explore a Samurai home and learn about some of the strategies they employed! The soba restaurant he recommended was a culinary highlight, and the pear-flavored ice cream was a delightful surprise.
Sanichi’s thoughtful assistance in finding a vegetarian dining option for one of our group members was truly appreciated.
Overall, this tour was an extraordinary way to explore Yamadera and Yamagata. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a rich and immersive cultural experience.
