What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were a group visiting from Europe. It was extremely hot again today, but perhaps because of that, everywhere was less crowded and easy to get around, which was great. We were able to leisurely enjoy the usual Sannenzaka slope and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and there were plenty of opportunities for photos at the popular spots. The Otowa Waterfall was also uncrowded, and the whole group enjoyed it. Next we went to Kinkaku-ji Temple, where even the popular photo spots were sparse with people, which was wonderful. After that, the guests enjoyed soba noodles and soba-yu at a soba restaurant near Kinkaku-ji. Nijo Castle was also completely different from usual, with few people around, making it easy to give explanations, which was great. Finally, we went to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, where the guests tried lifting the Omokaru-ishi stone. Despite the heat, I believe they had a wonderful time.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
