What Is a Private Nagasaki Cruise Port Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

We had changed the meeting point in advance to the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, and we were able to meet safely a little after 9:00, starting the tour.

We boarded the tram at Ourakaigandori tram stop and rode to Ishibashi tram stop, then used the Skywalk and other means to enter Glover Garden through the second gate. Inside the garden, in addition to explaining Mr. Glover's achievements, I also explained about the Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution, such as the cantilever crane visible across the harbor. Walking a short distance from the exit, we arrived in front of Oura Cathedral, and I explained the episode of the "Discovery of the Hidden Christians" in 1865.

Next we headed to Dejima, where I guided the guests to the miniature Dejima, the archaeology museum, and the Kapitan's Quarters. For lunch, I had consulted with the guests in advance and reserved a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, so we walked just under 10 minutes from Dejima to Chinatown. For lunch, the guests enjoyed champon, stir-fried green peppers with meat, sweet and sour pork, and other dishes. After lunch, we strolled through Chinatown. The guests stopped by a shop called Renge, which has a rich selection of Ghibli-related merchandise.

We took the tram from Shinchi Chinatown tram stop to the Atomic Bomb Museum tram stop and headed to the Atomic Bomb Museum. Before entering, I showed a copy of the photograph "The Boy Standing at the Cremation Ground," which is displayed at the end of the exhibit, and asked them not to miss it. We walked from the Atomic Bomb Museum via the hypocenter to Peace Park, stopping along the way at the exposed strata from the time of the bombing and the remains of an air-raid shelter.

From Peace Park we were to return by tram to the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, but the guests expressed a wish to stop at a souvenir shop along the way. Since it was roughly the end of the tour time, we traveled by tram from Peace Park tram stop to Ourakaigandori tram stop, and after getting off, the guests confirmed their ship, which was berthed a short distance away (within a 5-minute walk). I then guided them to the front of a stylish souvenir shop called Omagari Neko Chaya, ending the tour.

Later, when I sent a thank-you message and asked for their impressions of this shop, they replied that they had been very satisfied.
