What's a Private Day Tour of Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today I guided guests from North America, who had already visited Tokyo and Nikko. The weather was cloudy and not too hot, and there were not too many people, making it an ideal day for sightseeing. The guests were especially eager to see the deer, so we first enjoyed feeding the deer at Nara Park in front of Todai-ji Temple. Afterwards, we visited the Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji Temple, which was also not very crowded, so the guests were able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. The guests seemed to enjoy looking at souvenirs. We then had an early lunch and visited Isuien Garden, where we enjoyed the beautiful Japanese garden. After that, we walked through the Higashimuki shopping street, where I recommended the famous kusa-mochi from Nakatanidou, which was very much appreciated. Since some discomfort had worsened, we then returned to the accommodation. I believe the guests enjoyed the day.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
