What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Zojoji, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Isetan
I guided a group visiting from North America. After a cruise stopping in Hong Kong, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, and Kobe, they arrived in Tokyo this morning and are returning home tomorrow evening. They have traveled to 46 countries, and this was their second visit to Japan. When I told them that rain was forecast for the afternoon, they retrieved jackets and other items from the luggage they had already checked in. At Zojoji Temple, we happened to see a memorial service in the main hall and a baby's first shrine visit at the Ankokuden. They said it was their first time seeing the scenery of the Jizo Bodhisattva statues. At Shinjuku Gyoen, the greenery and large trees were beautiful. Since we had walked a great deal, I suggested a rest at a tea house, which they welcomed, and they enjoyed some green tea. When rain clouds appeared and thunder began to rumble, they asked if they could skip the Meiji Shrine we had planned to visit afterward and be taken back to the Hotel instead, so we did just that. On the way, I guided them to Isetan, where they happily bought tonkatsu, fried shrimp (which they had cut into small pieces), and sushi for lunch.

Our wonderful guide, Takako, took us on a tour of Tokyo. She helped us create a plan based on our interests and was flexible when we needed to change the itinerary a bit due to extreme heat. She was friendly, informative, and helpful. We enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and history from Takako, and we saw amazing temples and ate delicious sushi. I highly recommend this tour and Takako as a guide!

We had an amazing day with Takako. Takako got in contact prior to our tour to create the perfect itinerary. She collected us from our hotel and helped us get our travel cards and showed us how to use the public transport. Takako altered our tour and took us to Harajuku Takeshite street, which our teenagers really enjoyed. Takako was really informative and friendly and made the day really enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in booking her again. Takako showed us more in 6 hours than we would have seen in a week if left to our own devices. Thanks Takako and we will watch The Transporter!
