Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like When a Typhoon Cuts It Short? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a family visiting from North America. Soon after I was assigned, they contacted me, and after exchanging messages several times, we arranged a two-day tour. However, due to the effects of a typhoon, I explained that guiding on the following day would be difficult, and they kindly canceled that day of the tour. I immediately called [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) on the spot, and I am grateful for their prompt handling of the situation.

On the day of the tour, it had not yet started to rain, so I added the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which had originally been planned for the next day. They had initially requested a tour with a vehicle, but since there was no four-hour vehicle option available, the Hotel arranged one for them. We left the vehicle at PARCO in Shibuya, and from there we used public transportation. They had downloaded Mobile Suica while in the chauffeured car, so we were able to move around smoothly afterward.

I guided them through Tsukiji, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Shibuya, and Meiji Shrine, then took them to Takeshita Street before saying goodbye. At the guests' request, the tour was extended by one hour, and I received the payment in cash.

They were such wonderful guests that it is very disappointing the following day's tour had to be canceled.

I hope they can continue to travel safely.

I’m Yoko Kusumoto, a government lisenced English-speaking guide.
I have been living in Tokyo for more than 20 years, and it’s my pleasure to show you around Tokyo. I recommend Meiji Shrine and Asakusa if you are first time in Japan. I also recommend off-the-beaton path spots like Fukagawa Fudodo and Gotokuji Temple(lucky cat temple).
I was born and brought up in Kamakura, where the first shogun’s government was established. It will be my pleasure to introduce you my hometown as well.

I live with my husband and one teenage son.
I like traveling, flowers, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and exploring Tokyo.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
