What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji and Sanjusangendo

The guests were visitors from Europe. I was unsure what the meeting point, Hale Temari Kyoto Gosho, actually was. It may have been a former private lodging; there was map information, but there was no sign or anything at the actual location. The guests seemed to be staying near Nishiki Market, and they had apparently spent more than 30 minutes searching for the place, arriving with puzzled looks on their faces. I had originally considered visiting Fushimi Inari, but since the guests planned to go there on their own early in the morning on another day to avoid the crowds, we went to Kinkaku-ji and Sanjusangendo instead. The guests enjoyed both Kinkaku-ji and Sanjusangendo, but they were surprised that there happened to be a great many school excursion groups at both sites today.
