What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report

Continuing from the previous day, I guided a group visiting from Asia and North America around Tokyo. Because it was raining heavily in the morning, we held off on Tokyo Tower and went to Shibuya Crossing first, where some of the guests wanted to cross even in the rain, so they crossed and then laughed while watching the unusually empty intersection from the second floor. At Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, the car dropped us off on the road along the left side as seen from the front, so we used the elevator to go inside. When we left the temple, the rain had stopped, and some of the guests said it was because they had prayed at the temple. At the outer market, the guests enjoyed tuna, wagyu beef, eel, strawberries, satsuma-age, and more, and they shopped for dried squid, grilled conger eel, black beans, chopsticks, and other items. After Namiyoke Shrine, at the fish market food court, everyone had what they liked, including ramen, soba with tempura, and tuna rice bowls. For Akihabara, I took the guests to the Radio Kaikan and set a meeting time 30 minutes later, while I took some of the group to mAAch ecute at Manseibashi. The sky cleared up, so we went to Tokyo Tower and enjoyed the view. When we came back down it had clouded over again, so we all agreed it was a good thing we had prayed at the temple and the shrine. I had been worried about the rain, but with a lucky turn of events we were able to finish the tour on time without any trouble, and the guests were pleased, which was a relief. However, in the morning I left a folding umbrella in the restroom at the hotel, and even though I went back fairly soon it was gone. I reported it to the hotel and borrowed a hotel umbrella so there was no problem, but it was sad that it never turned up. I resolved to always keep it with my bag from now on, even if it gets wet.
