What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Nishiki Market

The guests were visiting from Europe. Some of the guests had traveled extensively across Asia and asked several questions about Buddhism. I found it difficult to answer when asked about the differences between Buddhist rituals in different Asian countries and in Japan. When I mentioned that the first of the thousand torii gates at Fushimi Inari was donated by a major advertising company, the guests, while noting it was a competitor, still took a commemorative photo with that company's name in the background. Having personally traveled to Europe before, I enjoyed sharing stories and looking at my own photos from that trip together. I was surprised to learn how high the cost of living was there, with rent feeling about twice that of Osaka. At each site, the guests enjoyed the atmosphere as we walked. I took them to Nishiki Market before we parted ways.
