What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto and Nara Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today, as with yesterday, I guided a group visiting from Oceania. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day, with heavy rain at times. Since Kiyomizu-dera Temple had only light rain first thing in the morning, there were fewer people and the guests enjoyed it. Afterward, the rain became quite heavy at Nara Park, but when it eased up a little, they enjoyed feeding the deer outside. They were amazed by the scale of the Great Buddha Hall at Todai-ji Temple. At Higashimuki Shopping Street, they enjoyed lunch and shopping. I had been worried about the crowds at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, but perhaps because of the rain, there were relatively few people, which was fortunate. Tatsumi Bridge was as crowded as ever, but I believe the guests enjoyed it.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kyoto Private Tour
Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
