The itinerary covered Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo at 9:00, Togetsukyo Bridge at 9:55, Tenryu-ji Temple at 10:20, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove at 11:10, Mikami Shrine at 11:40, Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple at 13:15, Gio-ji Temple at 14:05, Nonomiya Shrine at 14:40, Handmade Chopsticks Workshop Yuzen at 15:00 and Kinkaku-ji Temple at 16:10.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Kyoto to Saga-Arashiyama by train (240JPY); Arashiyama (Keifuku Line) to Kitano-Hakubaicho by train (250JPY); Kitano-Hakubaicho by bus (230JPY). Across 3 sections the fare came to 720JPY per person.
What Is a Private Full-Day Tour of Arashiyama and Kyoto Temples Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Europe. The day before, they had explored Kifune and Kurama-dera, and today they wished to take their time strolling through Arashiyama and Sagano. At Tenryu-ji, they entered not only the garden but also the buildings, and we walked through slowly while I explained the highlights. The bamboo grove was especially beautiful, with the greenery glowing after the rain. What they looked forward to most was Otagi Nenbutsu-ji, where they photographed many of the uniquely expressive rakan statues. The moss at Gio-ji was also lovely, and they took many photos there as well. The final stop, Kinkaku-ji at dusk, was exceptionally beautiful, and they were deeply moved by it. I believe they truly enjoyed the day.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April!
