Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shukkeien Garden and the Peace Memorial Museum

The guests admired the beauty of the cherry blossoms, mimosa, and peach blossoms at Shukkeien Garden. They were also interested in the difference between the shingle-shake roofing of the tea house and the cypress-bark roofing seen at shrines. They mentioned that the pine needles in their home region are about half the length of those on Japanese pines. In front of the Peace Memorial Museum, I explained the exhibits, the Pacific War that led to the atomic bombing, the atomic bomb that was dropped, and the reasons Hiroshima was chosen as a target. A question was raised about whether Nagasaki had been selected for the same topographical reasons. After leaving the museum, another question came up: "The content was very clear, but is there no lingering emotional resentment among the survivors?" When I explained that the survivors realized peace cannot be built on hatred, and that mutual understanding and friendship are what truly matter, the guests nodded in agreement. Before parting, I said to one of the guests, "Hiroshima has been rebuilt, but the hearts of the survivors have not yet fully recovered. Please think about why that is." And with that, we said goodbye.
