What's a Private Day Tour of Kobe Like from the Cruise Port? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were first-time visitors to Japan from North America. We met at the Kobe Port Terminal, then visited the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, Kobe Shushinkan, Nankinmachi (Chinatown), and Kobe Harborland, before returning to the Port Terminal to finish the tour.
The weather forecast called for rain, but we managed to avoid it at the Herb Gardens. The guests used an electric wheelchair to move along the slopes, and it made getting around very easy. At the Kobe Shushinkan lunch, the guests did not finish all the food but had refills of sake. They also enjoyed beer at Kobe Harborland. The weather was not great, but the guests enjoyed the tour very much.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
