What Is a Private Tokyo Shrine and Temple Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from North America. They had come to Japan on the recommendation of a friend, planning to spend some time in Tokyo before continuing on to Kyoto and Osaka.

Based on their requests made in advance, we visited various locations around Tokyo. Since they seemed interested in shrines, we visited Namiyoke Shrine near the Tsukiji Outer Market, Suitengu Shrine, and Meiji Shrine. Along the way, I explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the influence each has had on Japanese culture, and the ways of worship, and they seemed deeply impressed. At each shrine they worshipped respectfully, and they also purchased goshuin stamp books and omamori charms, which they clearly enjoyed very much.

We also stopped by Chidorigafuchi, where the cherry blossoms were just beginning to bloom, and since it was still early, they said they would like to come back another day. At the final stop, the Shibuya Crossing, they were amazed by the large crowds, and mentioned it was a place they had wanted to visit based on their prior research. As they wished to enjoy some more shopping, we ended the tour at this point.

Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.
