What Does a Private Kyoto Day Tour Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera

The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They were traveling together as friends. It was their first time in Japan, and they came to Kyoto after visiting Tokyo, Takayama, Hiroshima, and other places. It was the first visit to Kyoto for all of them.

We visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka Shrine, and Sanjusangendo, and then I took them to Nishiki Market, where the tour concluded.

It was an early morning tour starting at 7:30, but both Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kiyomizu-dera were very crowded with visitors from overseas. During the tour the temperature rose quite a bit, making for a very pleasant climate. We were also able to spot some early-blooming cherry blossoms here and there.

Some of the guests said they liked Fushimi Inari best, while others preferred Kiyomizu-dera. Some of the guests were particularly impressed by the cliff-side architectural structure of the Kiyomizu stage at Kiyomizu-dera.
